Cliff Lee will be able to come off the DL May 4th in Washington |
This evening the Phillies placed pitcher Cliff Lee on the 15 day DL with a left Oblique strain. This is retroactive to this past Thursday, the same day he pitched 10 scoreless innings against the Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Lee will be eligable to come off the DL on Friday May 4th when the Phillies open a three game weekend set in Washington DC against the Nationals. Oddly enough that day would be Lee's turn in the rotation. Lee will miss starts this Monday in Arizona, and next Sunday at home against the Chicago Cubs.
It's been announced that Kyle Kendrick will start Monday against the Diamondbacks and presumably against Chicago as well. Also announced as part of this move is that Joe Savery has been recalled from Triple A Lehigh Valley.
To me all of this just sounds terrible, Lee to the DL, Kendrick starting and Savery recalled. None of this sounds good to me and should not sound good to any Phillies fan. I just hope the offense can show up and get some runs cause they are gonna need to with Kendrick on the mound.
