I dont usually do a post after a random game, but today I felt the need to. Last nights game in Atlanta was one that was a little different. Why you ask, well this game had it all, Good pitching, bad pitching, clutch hitting, lead changes, late comebacks, a walk-off home run, just to name a few things. Let me start with Carlos Ruiz who pounded out a career high seven (7) RBI last night including a big 3 run home run. Ruiz's seven RBI was a franchise record for a Phillies catcher in one game. He brought his RBI total up from 10 to 17 in one game and now leads the team in that category. Seems like Ruiz has really stepped up this season so far when alot of other hitters have not. Even though the Phillies lost the game 15-13 in 11 innings it was gripping all the way through. After building a 6-0 lead with Halladay on the mound all of Phillies Nation was feeling good about another win. However all that came crashing down in one inning, 6 runs including a grand slam by Brian McCann tied the game up. After much back and forth the Phillies found themselves down 13-12 in the 9th but an infield single by Shane Victorino tied the game and we were set for extra innings. Brian Sanchez of the Phillies was called on to pitch two innings and in the end gave up a 2 run walk off home run to Larry (Chipper) Jones for the Braves win. The win also gave former Phillies pitcher and 2008 World Series Champion Chad Durbin his first win of the season for the Braves. Durbin has not been great this season thus far in Atlanta but he was last night 1 inning and only 8 pitches to retire the side in the 11th.

Now I can complain all day about the Phillies Bullpen and how bad they have been and how they are costing the Phillies game after game. I could complain about Halladay last night, but it really seemed like during that 5th inning last night he looked sick or something, he just looked really out of it. Dont know what it was but he just didnt look right. He had a bad night no doubt, no excuses. The Braves got to him and I tip cap to them for that. The Phillies really need to figure out what they are gonna do with their bullpen thought, because with the pen they have they are not gonna win anything. I hope Amaro knows this and sees this cause if not it might be too late.

The Phillies are back at it today at noon for the final game of the series in Atlanta. Joe Blanton will be on the mound and we would all love to see them hit like they did yesterday to support him.
